Yellowplum I like this

Yellowplum is a 33 year old single woman from Belfast, Maine, USA.
Well, basically, life is good! As a jewelry designer/artisan I get to make pretty things all day and I split my time between two really beautiful towns: Belfast, Maine and Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. I've also lived in NYC (my hometown), in London, England, and in Athens, Georgia. Before starting yellowplum beads, I worked as a secretary in a doctor's office, a law firm, and a university. Before that I studied linguistics and Finnish in college. I have five cats. I'm kind of a geek. I don't like oranges. I like to take pictures, too. Maybe someday I'll show you some.

Although written from a white, heterosexual, middle-class perspective, The Curvature aims to include and bring attention to issues effecting women of color, low-income women and the LGBTQ community. It welcomes and encourages perspectives from people within all of these groups."

Barbara Ehrenreich, author of Nickel and Dimed

The professor who taught my freshman seminar in social anthropology included Barbara Ehrenreich's "Fear of Falling: The Inner Life of the Middle Class" in the course syllabus. Many of us were preoccupied with issues of race, gender, and sexual orientation, but didn't have the language to grapple with the issue of class. For most of us, this book was our primer. Since then I'm always interested in her take on current affairs.
